Verso after recent conservation: linen lining on keyed hardwood stretcher, housed in a protective backing board. The painting underwent a carefully targeted conservation campaign within the last decade. Old, yellowed natural-resin varnish layers were reduced with solvent gels under binocular control, revealing a cooler, more nuanced flesh palette and recovering depth in the formerly obscured background.
